How old do you have to be to take muscle supplements or any supplements?

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

You dont necessarily have to be any age. If your under 21 the most I would take is a protein drink and possibly a multi vitamin. You certainly dont need to be taking anything that claims to boost your testosterone or spike your energy levels. A young growing body should not need any help as long as you eat right. Experiement with supplements when your 21 or older.

What country’s health care system has the best survival for prostate cancer? (please link to factual source)?

Sunday, October 25th, 2009

Thanks for Britain’s CYA Report trying to explain the mitigating circumstances for Britain’s Social Medicine’s pathetic cancer track record. Kudos for that.

International Cancer Survival Rates are subject to numerous factors relating to comparisons based on definition and recording.

http://info.cancerresearchuk.org/news/behindtheheadlines/europeancancersurvival/

Quote:

Dr Harry Burns, lead clinician for cancer in Scotland – the equivalent of England’s newly appointed cancer tsar – said that figures showing higher death rates for Britain than Europe and America were not comparing like with like.

The system for registering cancer deaths is much tighter in Britain than elsewhere. A cancer patient who dies of a heart attack will be registered as a cancer death in the UK, while other countries’ cancer registries tend to understate their death rates, Dr Burns said.

Eurocare II throws up oddities which cast doubt on the validity of the figures. The study, showing five-year survival rates from 1978 to 1989 for 17 countries, suggests Estonia has the best rate for certain cancers, above that of prosperous Germany and France.

It also shows that immigrants to Switzerland have a higher survival rate than the resident population – because most return to their home countries in their final months and their deaths are not recorded.

Separate evidence from international trials shows that British patients included in the trials do just as well as patients from other countries, casting doubt on the claims that treatment is less good in Britain.

Dr Burns said: "Until we have a properly designed study comparing like with like, it is daft and demoralising to say we do badly. There is no evidence that British patients are dying more frequently than they need to. We are underselling ourselves and it doesn’t help public confidence."

His view was backed yesterday by Dr Peter Boyle, the director of epidemiology and biostatistics at the European Institute of Oncology in Milan. Dr Boyle said international comparisons could not be relied on because the disease might be more advanced at diagnosis in some countries than in others."There may well be differences [in survival] but we can’t say whether they are due to treatment, diagnosis or something else. I don’t think anyone knows the true position," he said.

Dr Boyle said global comparisons of this kind were meaningless: " Is spending money the key thing or is it spending it appropriately? We need to know the outcome of higher spending for individual patients, but that is difficult to assess."

The best cancer units in Britain provided care that was the equal of any in the world but the standard varied.

There were also regional differences in death rates. Dr Boyle said the best hope lay in the Calman-Hine proposals for spreading "best practice" by concentrating cancer care in specialist units linked to district hospitals.

"Calman-Hine was a huge breakthrough that put the patient, not the organisation, first. It has been very successfully implemented in Birmingham and Yorkshire.

It should ultimately lead to a better deal for patients," he said.

Can men take vitamins made for females?

Sunday, October 25th, 2009

My sister has an unopened bottle of one a day for woman i was wondering if it would be ok for a male to use or whatnot instead of letting it go to waste?

It won’t hurt you but you may have a desire to sew and breastfeed but nothing really serious will happen

Can women take extenze male enhancement pills?

Sunday, October 25th, 2009

I read of the box of extenze that it is not intended for pregnant or nursing women. Also that women may experience facial hair growth, hair loss, acne, irritability, aggressiveness, increase in estrogen. If the product is for men, why is there advise on the box pertaining to women taking it. I have read that women can take the male viagra although the womens viagra is recommended.

Not that I am aware of, but the reason for the advisory on the box is because they know that a woman may try some of her husband’s medication to see if it can help some of her issues.

However, I would recommend checking with your pharmacist and doctor as well to see what they say.

How can I gain muscle without supplements? A good workout plan for a football player?

Sunday, October 25th, 2009

I play football and wrestling in high school and I am looking to get bigger without getting fatter. I have access to a gym 5 days a week, but I can not use any supplements. Any workout plans or diets that may help???

First of all congrats on managing two high school sports at once. That is quite a task.

If your playing football you can forget and body specific workouts. What I mean by that is you can forget any isolated movement workouts.

You are straining for strength and muscle, you are training to be a bodybuilding and the difference in training is significant.

You will stick only to compound movements such as the Bench Press, Squats, Dips ext..

Football is an explosive sport so you will perform your movements in an explosive fashion. ie, when you are doing bench presses, bring the bar down slowly and explode up just as if you were pushing a player out of bounce in football.

Your workout will be set up around main lifts and having other lifts formed around these. You will lift 4 times a week and have a day off after two, so it will be set up as follows. 2 on, 1 off and then 2 on. Your intensity will change however. On Monday and Tuesday you will hit the core exercises hard and then when you hit them again for a second time you will hit them a little lighter (the 2 steps forward and 1 step back power lifter mentality).

MONDAY:
* Bench press 3×10
* Incline 4×3
* Barbell curl 3×10
* Shrugs 3×10
* Lat Pull down 3×10
* Close-grip bench 3×5
* Dumbbell rows 3×10
* T-bar rows 3×5
* 3-way dumbbell raises 3×10
* Wrist curls 3×10

This would be the heavy day for bench and the light day for incline. The bench should start off with a weight you can handle for 10 good reps(but you should feel like you can get more). The second set should be harder after you add more weight and the last set add even more weight and fail at ten. The key is to add weight ever time. The Incline is the same but on this day you do not want to go to total failure. Switch it up on Thursday so that on incline you will fail on your last set and bench should be done with lighter weights. All the exercises are the same on Thursday.

TUESDAY:
* Squat 5×3
* Power Clean 4×3
* Snatch 3×5
* Ground Base Jammier 3×5
* Stiff Legged dead lifts 3×5
* Leg extensions 3×10
* Leg curl 3×10
* Calf Raises 3×10
* 4-way neck 4×15

On this day and Friday you will perform the core lifts, however, on Friday you will want to substitute squats with box squats and power clean with hang clean. The squats should be your really heavy core lift on Tuesday and on Friday your box squats should be about 60% of your max moving up to 80% by the last set. The rest of the lifts are the same.

This system will go on for 6 weeks and during that time your sets and rep will change for your core lifts and the rest of your lifts will stay the same. The changes will look like this.

The box squats and the hang clean follow the reps that the exercises they are substituting for hold.

As you can see this is very different from a bodybuilding workout. You basically do a full-body workout everyday.

Are you getting just a little bit tired of all these "Male Enhancement Pill" Ads on TV?

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009

I’m right in the middle of an episode of Family Guy, and some dude comes on talking about "Male Enhancement" Ewwwwwwwwww!!!!

What ever happened to good old fashioned "Ginsu" or "Flowbee" commercials….

Well I will agree with you in that interruptions while watching Family Guy is really annoying but for me I think about when I do get a man I’m sure those ads will really come in handy for me. I’ll start to look forward to them.

Has anyone used the supplements Muscle Might or Force Max? Do they actually work?

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009

So, I was reading about these two supplements online, and how they allow you to lose weight and gain muscle mass very easily. Has anyone out there ever used them? Do they work? If you have used them, have you noticed any side effects? Thanks for the help.

Anything that allows you to lose weight will also cause you to lose muscle so therefore they are contradicting each statement. Its false advertising for customers to think that its not too good to be true, becasue if it is then it should not be bought.
